The beaked point geometry helps retain hold even on barbless venues and resists damage over rough lake beds — the 5° in-turned eye and wide gape deliver exceptional hooking performance on a wide range of presentations.

The Covert Dark Wide Gape Talon Tip is the latest development in Gardner’s long-running Talon Tip beaked point hook line. The beaked point geometry offers two key mechanical advantages: the angle of the point naturally helps retain hold even when a fish is attempting to shake the rig free — particularly valuable on barbless venues — and the point is less susceptible to damage when fishing over gravel or rough lake beds such as the spoil bars common on gravel pits. The 5° in-turned eye is set at the optimum angle of draw to work in concert with the beaked point, ensuring the hook goes in and stays in. The Covert Dark upgrade brings a completely re-specified point, single-layer matt plating and micro barb to this bomb-proof, super-strong pattern.

  • Sweeping beaked point — re-specified to be longer, slimmer and sharper than the previous version, with improved pricking speed and penetration.
  • 5° in-turned eye — creates the optimum angle of draw between eye and beaked point, maximising hooking efficiency.
  • Covert Dark single-layer matt electroplated finish — minimal handling during finishing keeps points pristine and razor-sharp.
  • Micro barb — commercially fishery compatible and stronger than a full barb.
  • Manufactured from extra-strong forged, double-tempered high carbon steel — the same bomb-proof wire as the original Talon Tip patterns.
  • Size 2 available barbed only. Sizes 4, 6, 8 and 10 available in barbed and barbless. 10 hooks per pack.
